Broadcom SAS 9300-8i

LSI SAS3008 · 8 SATA/SAS drives · PCIe 3.0 x8

Model LSI00344

Is the Broadcom SAS 9300-8i worth it?

This is the standard fix for a motherboard that's short of SATA ports, with 8 drives hanging off one card.

Watch out for

These cards were built for server airflow, and in a quiet tower they'll want a fan pointed at them.

2 × SFF-8643 ports, four drives each. Flash it to IT mode for ZFS or Unraid. Any x8 or x16 slot will do (it's PCIe 3.0 x8).
