Who the IronWolf Pro 24 TB is for

Go for it if you're building something bigger than a 4-bay box. It also earns its keep on a busy pool where scrubs and rebuilds never let up, because the 550 TB a year workload rating is there for exactly that. You also get five years' warranty, two more than the cheapest NAS lines. CMR, thankfully. SMR and parity rebuilds don't get on.

Watch out for

It's a 7,200 rpm drive and you'll hear it working.

No Backblaze failure rate for this one, as they don't run it in big enough numbers. A 4-bay box full of these gives 72 TB after one drive's worth of parity.

Each value links to the Seagate page or datasheet it came from, and "Not published" means the maker doesn't list it there.

Failure rate

There's no Backblaze figure for this one. We only publish a rate with at least 60 drives and 50 drive-years behind it, because below that the error bars are too wide to tell you anything. The reliability page has every model that clears the bar.
